Associate Attorney, Bowman and Brooke
Ryan McCarthy is a 2014 William Mitchell graduate and an associate at Bowman and Brooke’s Minneapolis office. He concentrates his practice on defending product manufacturers at all stages of product liability litigation and is a member of the firm’s drug and medical device group, toxic tort group, discovery group, and sport’s equipment manufacturer team.
Ryan served as an assistant county attorney for approximately 3.5 years at the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted adult felony crimes. He has tried countless cases, both to a jury and the court, and has conducted countless arraignments, contested evidentiary hearings, pretrial motions, settlement conferences, and appellate arguments.
Ryan served as a deputy solicitor general for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe where he represented, counseled, and advised the band government in numerous areas, including fee-to-trust land applications, treaty rights, civil litigation, child support and child protection, contracts, housing and home loan policy, gaming, and employment and labor relations. While pursuing his J.D., Ryan served as an extern and scholarship recipient for Target Corporation and clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota. Ryan was also the president of the school’s Native American Law Student Association.
Ryan serves on the board of numerous non-profit organizations and is active in the legal community. Ryan is committed to supporting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the legal community. He held leadership roles in the Minnesota State Bar Association as the chair of the New Lawyer’s Section and is a member of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association.
