In April 2019, Professor Colette Routel, the director of Mitchell Hamline’s Indian Law Program, testified before the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. Routel was testifying in favor of a bill that would reverse the impact of Carcieri v. Salazar, a 2009 Supreme Court decision that limited the ability of the federal government to take land into trust for certain Indian tribes.
