U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger will discuss his initiatives surrounding health care fraud during a presentation and question-and-answer session at Mitchell Hamline on Thursday, March 3.
As head of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota, Luger is responsible for combating violent crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, white collar crime, and terrorism.
Luger, who was sworn in as Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney in 2014, is also responsible for the prosecution of both criminal and civil healthcare fraud cases in Minnesota.
Some estimates put the cost of health care fraud in the country at close to $100 billion a year. Health care fraud schemes continue to grow in complexity and seriousness. The efforts of law enforcement are a major component of the fight against this type of fraud.
