40 graduates will receive Juris Doctor degrees at Mitchell Hamline’s Winter 2017 commencement, 2 pm Sunday Jan. 8, in the Mitchell Hamline Auditorium.
The new graduates join the ranks of more than 19,000 alumni. Nine of the graduates have performed 50 or more hours of pro bono client representation, well beyond clinic course requirements.
The commencement ceremony will feature:
- Mark Gordon, the president and dean of Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
- Honors Speaker Jill Eggerichs Rock. Rock received five Cali Excellence for the Future awards and was named to the Dean’s honor roll for five semesters of law school, all while remaining active in her community throughout school.
- Charge to the Class speaker Jim Hilbert. Hilbert is an associate professor of law at Mitchell Hamline and the Capstone Week director for the HYBRID J.D. program. He is also co-director of the Expert Witness Training Academy.
- Commencement speaker the Honorable David Lillehaug. Lillehaug has been an associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court for three and a half years and was formerly in private practice. He was U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota from 1994-98.
