Below is a statement issued today by Dean Anthony Niedwiecki and Board Chair Nicole James Gilchrist in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina, et al.
“We are disappointed but not surprised by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision today in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College and Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina, et al. We have not had a chance to study the ruling and assess its implications, but Mitchell Hamline intends to continue to follow the law while not retreating from our foundational commitment to expanding access to legal education and the legal profession and admitting a student body that reflects broad diversity. Our excellence as an institution is inseparable from this commitment.”
