Nearly 200 alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community friends joined us in October to celebrate 126 years of Mitchell Hamline School of Law’s legacy and impact. The evening held at Allianz Field was filled with connections, alumni accomplishments, and inspiring music provided by Brass Solidarity and the Larry McDonough ’83 Jazz Trio, as attendees acknowledged the people, purpose, and possibility that have allowed Mitchell Hamline to thrive now and in the future.
At the event, Mitchell Hamline Alumni Association Board President Caroline Moos ’19 presented the annual alumni awards. This year’s recipients recognized the Hon. Shawn M. Bartsh ’82 with the Distinguished Alumni Award, Nicole James Gilchrist ’03 with the Outstanding Alumni Award, and Kojo Addo ’17 with the Recent Alumni Award.
President and Dean Camille M. Davidson also presented the inaugural Legacy and Future Award to its first honoree: Robert Klas, Jr., ’79. This new award recognizes an individual who represents the legacies of both William Mitchell College of Law and Hamline University School of Law while embracing and building the future of Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Klas, playing a pivotal role in bringing William Mitchell and Hamline Law together in the 2015 combination, certainly exemplifies lasting vision, leadership, and impact for the institution.
Throughout the night, attendees were also encouraged to connect with one another and engage with Mitchell Hamline, from signing up to mentor current law students and making a gift to exploring the institution’s history through a special anniversary book created to honor the law school’s legacy.
