Immigration Law Clinic J-Term Opportunity
In December, prior to traveling to Dilley, students will have an online training session and be given materials to prepare for our work representing immigrant women and children in the Dilley, Texas, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Family Detention Center. Students are responsible for transportation and accommodations to Dilley, Texas.
Adjunct and up to eight students will interview, prepare and represent women and children detained at the Dilley Family Detention Facility in the following matters before the following agencies:
Citizenship and Immigration Service Asylum Office in Credible Fear and Reasonable Fear interviews; ICE officers to request bonds;
Executive Office for Immigration Review Immigration Court for bond hearings and review of denials of Credible Fear and Reasonable Fear hearings;
Research and draft asylum claims.
