Dear Students,
I write to inform you of some Law School Catalog updates recently adopted by the MHSL faculty. Specifically, the cap on summer credits has been reduced, and the rule for Appeal from Academic Dismissal has been updated. The updated rule sections are included in bold, italicized font below. The Law School Catalog on the website has been updated to reflect these changes. As always, please feel free to reach out to me with questions.
Academic Rules, 1.07 F. Registration Credit Restrictions
Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters:
- Maximum: 15 credits, but students who want to register for more than 8 credits in the summer semester must get advance permission from the Vice Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, and in no event may a student register for more than 10 credits in the summer semester.
- Minimum: 8 credits except in summer and in a student’s final semester. The Vice Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs may grant students a one-time exception to the 8-credit minimum for extraordinary circumstances.
Academic Rules, 1.01.A.5 Right of Appeal
The student must explain the conditions that contributed to the student’s probation and dismissal. The student must also demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Committee that the conditions contributing to the probation and dismissal have been or will be ameliorated, and that the student will be able to achieve and maintain a cumulative GPA that will keep the student in good academic standing for the remainder of law school.
