Dear Students,
Thanks to a generous grant from Access Lex, Mitchell Hamline School of Law has been able to establish a Student Emergency Fund intended to provide limited financial support for Mitchell Hamline students. If you are experiencing unexpected additional costs or loss of income, or need emergency based financial support to pay for essential needs, such as housing, food, and medicine, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, you are encouraged to apply for these funds.
The Student Emergency Fund is intended to address essential needs that Financial Aid and other resources are unable to address. The following list includes some examples of categories that could be considered an essential need for a student and that may fall within the parameters for funding:
Unforeseen additional expenses for housing, including rent and utilities
- Groceries
- Medicine
- Emergency dental/medical/healthcare expenses
- Unanticipated technology expenses
These funds are considered grants, not loans, and will not need to be repaid. Grant funds are limited and are considered on a rolling basis until funds are depleted. While we will make every effort to offer some emergency funding for requests that meet the criteria indicated above, funds are limited, and it may not be possible for us to grant every request. To provide support for the most students, we will limit grant approved requests to one grant per student for amounts up to $1000 maximum.
To be considered for this grant, please complete this application form to be reviewed by the Student Emergency Fund Grant Committee. The priority deadline for applications is Monday, April 27, 2020. The committee will review applications on a weekly basis, and grants will be disbursed on a timely basis upon approval by the Committee until available funds are depleted. The Committee will seek clarification of application requests, as necessary.
