Apply for the Mitchell Hamline Mock Trial Team!
This is a great opportunity to get your feet wet in litigation. There are two mock trial competitions: AAJ & TYLA. Participation is worth two credits per competition.
Tryouts will be held over Zoom any time December 14-18 from 3pm-9pm. To apply, please e-mail Judge McCollum at Cynthia.McCollum@courts.state.mn.us with which year you are currently in law school and what date/time works for you. Plan for the tryout to last 15 minutes.
For the tryout, you will need to do two things:
- Give an opening statement (approx. 4 minutes) and a cross examination (no longer than 8 minutes).
- Use the fact pattern of the Mullen v. Hale case from Advocacy class. You may pick either side. If you do not have a copy of the case, please e-mail and ask for a copy.
- Send a short statement (1 page max.) about why you want to join Mock Trial.
- Pro tip: Be sure to include whether you have any performance experience, such as advanced advocacy class, undergrad mock trial, speech, debate, acting, etc…
