MJF Summer Public Interest Fellowship
Each year MJF conducts a paid Summer Fellowship Program. Public interest agencies apply to MJF to become a host agency for full-time summer fellow. MJF funds the summer fellowship by sending the money to the agency, which puts the hired student on their summer payroll. Students receive $6,000 for 10 weeks of full-time work. Students apply for MJF Summer Fellowships through Symplicity. All applications (resume and cover letter) must be grade-blind. MJF staff attorneys screen student applications and remove applications that have references to grades before releasing them to the agencies for review. Agencies choose the students they would like to interview and hire. MJF helps arrange the interviews, contacts students with employment offers for Summer Fellowships, and provides support throughout the summer as needed.
MJF’s Summer Fellowship Program for Summer 2021 includes 19 paid placements at public interest agencies in the Metro area and in Greater Minnesota! MJF has confirmed with the host agencies that all fellowships offered through this program will proceed remotely if necessary due to public health concerns. Applications are due January 29th, and please note that applications will not be reviewed by agencies until after the deadline. Please refer to the descriptions in Symplicity for more information.
