Activity to be completed on Monday, February 1, 2021 by 11:59 pm:
My mother has always said: “clear space, clear mind.” Turns out, she was on to something! According to Psychology Today, a 2011 Princeton University study found that clutter can actually make focusing on a particular task more difficult. Specifically, the study found that the visual cortex can be overwhelmed by task-irrelevant objects, making it harder to allocate attention and complete tasks efficiently. Take some time out of your day to de-clutter/clean a space that is important to you. It could be anything from your desk, to your bathroom, to the hamper of clean clothes that haven’t been folded in months. In the time it takes to do this activity, find a way to “de-clutter” your mind. Some people find meditation apps are helpful, while others (like me) listen to true crime podcasts. Whatever gives your mind a break. Good luck!!
P.S. Although it’s not required, consider sharing a “before” and “after” photo to show off your accomplishment!
