Genocide Prevention: A 21st-Century Challenge will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00-11:35 am CT, in a synchronous remote format, for 3 elective credits. It will be taught by Dr. Ellen Kennedy, adjunct professor and Executive Director of World Without Genocide.
The course focuses on genocides in the past, from the Holocaust to Rwanda, former Yugoslavia, and Darfur, and genocides today in Myanmar, China, Ukraine, and elsewhere; legal structures that supported genocide; international laws and policies of prevention and peacekeeping; post-genocide prosecutions of perpetrators at ad hoc and permanent international tribunals; and restorative programs.
