Computer requirements
Recommended minimum and optimum laptop computer configurations can be found here:
The technical support staff at Mitchell Hamline is certified to repair Dell laptops within their original or extended warranty cycle. There is no charge for this service and is a great way to get full service for your laptop without the frustration and inconvenience associated with help desk phone lines. To use this service, purchase a Dell laptop with a warranty using the link above. Please feel free to design your own configuration based on the minimum and optimum configurations above.
Please note that our technicians can only repair hardware that is a part of the laptop itself. This excludes batteries, power adapters, docks, port replicators, and any external hardware. In these cases, you will be advised to call Dell directly for replacement or repair of the component.
Email account
On-campus students will receive a Mitchell Hamline e-mail account when you are on campus in August for orientation. Blended-learning students will receive a Mitchell Hamline e-mail account in July in order to access online orientation.
Lockers
Lockers are available on the lower level of the law school near the bookstore. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No fee is required. Students must provide their own lock.
Student locker guidelines
- All lockers are the property of the school. Lockers are made available for students’ convenience as space is available. Students may not use more than one locker.
- The law school reserves the right to open a locker with or without consent in instances where this policy is being violated or in an emergency.
- The law school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
- The law school reserves the right to determine what may be kept in a locker. No flammable materials, chemicals, explosives, or weapons of any kind are permitted in lockers.
- No perishable items should be stored in lockers.
- Nothing may be affixed on the inside or outside of a student locker.
- Lockers are available for temporary student use during the academic year.
- Lockers are available for individual student use first-come, first-served. Any student wishing to use a locker may do so by placing a lock on the locker of their choice.
- Student lockers must be cleaned out each fall and spring semester within 3 days after the last day of the finals period. After this time, any remaining locks and personal items will be removed and discarded.
Parking permits
Parking permits are not required for students. There are a limited number of parking spaces available on campus for student parking. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
There are various restrictions on parking on the streets near the law school. These restrictions are designed to ensure that parking is available for the residents of the neighborhood. It is important that all Mitchell Hamline students respect these restrictions because it is a way for the law school to be courteous and respectful of the people with whom we share the neighborhood.
Occasionally, the City of Saint Paul may post signs restricting parking on neighborhood streets. During the winter, parking is restricted on plow routes. Please be aware of these restrictions and respect them.
Mitchell Hamline provides parking on its property (“Summit Lot” and “Portland Lot”), and has an agreement to use spaces located across Victoria Avenue in the Summit Church lot (“SC Lot”), collectively, the “MHSL Parking Lots.”
A designated parking area for motorcycle parking is located in the northwest corner of the Summit Lot.
Parking in the Portland Lot is restricted to faculty and staff during the day, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. After 5 pm, students are permitted to park in the Portland Lot.
Unless a student is going out of town for a school related activity, no overnight parking is allowed in the law school parking lots. Overnight parking must be approved by the Director of Security.
Limited reserved parking is identified in the Summit and Portland Lots and may include temporarily reserved spaces for board members, judges and special event speakers. Accessible parking spaces are designated in each lot. Anyone parking in a reserved space improperly may be subject to ticketing and/or towing.
Blended-learning students: While on campus for preparation and capstone week, you can park in the Summit Lot for free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are a local blended-learning student and want to park in a Mitchell Hamline parking lot during times beyond prep and capstone weeks, you can park in the Summit Lot for free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
