Frank Harris ’75 will chair board of trustees
The Mitchell Hamline School of Law board of trustees added five new members effective July 1 and named new leaders. Frank V. Harris ’75, retired executive director of Minnesota Continuing Legal Education, will serve as chair.
Joining the 33-member board, which oversees operations for the law school, are:
- Alex Beeby ’16, attorney with Larkin Hoffman. Beeby is the alumni board representative to the board of trustees.
- Patrick Garay-Heelan ’09, senior vice president and senior wealth advisor at Bremer Wealth;
- David G. Hellmuth ’92, founding partner of Hellmuth & Johnson;
- Chris Montana ’13, owner of Du Nord Craft Spirits;
- Melissa Lee Wright ’93, senior vice president and general counsel at Twin Cities PBS.
Frances L. Kern ’13 had been serving as alumni board representative. That role now goes to Beeby, but Kern remains on the board. Amber Goodwin will serve as student representative to the board.
Harris is moving from vice chair to chair, and he will be taking over leadership of the board from Lisa A. Gray ’86, who is rotating off the board. Nicole James Gilchrist ’03 will serve as vice chair; Steven Kirsch ’76 will continue as secretary; and Gregory L. Buck ’87 becomes treasurer.
In addition to Gray, the following trustees have completed their terms as trustees and are stepping down: Judge Jill Flaskamp Halbrooks ’85, James J. Hoolihan ’79, Ellen G. Sampson ’84, and David M. Sparby ’80.
Trustees emeriti: Mitchell Hamline has also designated two former trustees as trustees emeriti. Former Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson ’76 and former Associate Justice Helen M. Meyer ’83 join fellow trustees emeriti Louis Ainsworth ’77; Lawrence Bell ’79; Stephen Bonner ’72; Robert Burk ’65; Charlton Dietz ’57, LL.D ’93; Samuel Hanson ’65; Stephen Lewis Jr.; Daniel O’Keefe ’78; Kathleen Flynn Peterson ’81; Karlin Symons ’88; and Jerrol Tostrud.
Alumni board: Mitchell Hamline’s Alumni Association board also has a change in membership and leadership starting July 1.
Alex Beeby ’16 takes over as president, with Landon Ascheman ’09 serving as vice president. New members include Jason Johnson ’18, Jackie Perez ’19, and Kevin Cassidy ’16. The Hon. John Rodenberg ’81 has completed his term of service and is rotating off the board.
