MJF Summer Clerkships – Applications due January 20, 2017
Apply now in Symplicity for a paid Summer 2017 Clerkship through the Minnesota Justice Foundation (MJF) at one of the 16 participating public sector and non-profit organizations (“participating agencies”) throughout Minnesota. The online application process opens on Friday, December 9. The deadline for applications to all agencies is January 20, 2017.
Students who are selected for a clerkship will perform 400 hours of legal service with the participating agency between the end of the spring semester 2017 and the first day of fall semester 2017 on a schedule that will be determined between the clerk and agency.
Eligibility: Mitchell Hamline law students highly encouraged to apply. You must be scheduled to graduate at the end of Fall 2017 or later.
Stipend: MJF provides a stipend of $4,500 for Metro Clerkships or $5,000 for Greater Minnesota Clerkships to the agencies at which the clerks are placed through this program.

Application Process:
- The online application process opens on Friday December 9, 2016

- The clerkship applications will be posted in Symplicity.
- For purposes of the application process, Minnesota Justice Foundation will be the employer name, and the job title will be “MJF Summer Clerkship – [agency name]. “ There will be a separate posting for each of the 16 agencies. See attached list of all opportunities. Address the cover letter to “Dear Supervising Attorney,”
- Contacting the agency directly is not allowed, although thank you notes are permitted following interviews.
- Applicants cannot include GPA and/or class rank for law school or undergraduate school, or any other academic honors (such as Dean’s List, Latin honors such as magna cum laude, etc.)
- Applications that include GPA and/or class rank for law or undergraduate school or any other academic honors (such as Dean’s List, Latin honors, etc.) will be rejected. After the deadline to apply passes, there will be no opportunity to revise and resubmit. Please carefully review each resume and cover letter to ensure that prohibited information is not included.
- Students may bring a writing sample or list of references to the interview, but they are not accepted online or prior to interviews.
- Each agency makes its own interviewing and hiring decisions.
- Interviews will be held at the University of Minnesota Law School February 21-23, 2017. Applicants will receive notice via email on February 8th of interviews and instructions to sign-up for interviews (on a first-come first-served basis).
- Offers will be made the week of February 24, 2017. Those selected for summer clerkships will attend a training and orientation at the University of Minnesota Law School in May 2017.
