The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) Public Law Section has two open positions for a first or second year law student with a strong interest in public law to sit on its Council. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about public law, provide new ideas and perspectives, and develop relationships with the public law community.
The MSBA Public Law Section is a community of lawyers working in Local, State and Federal government, education, the Bench and various private law firms and businesses. Section members work together to provide services and programs relating to the unique needs of public and private attorneys involved with public law issues. The Section also sponsors numerous CLE programs each year addressing issues unique to lawyers working in public law, such as data practices, ethics, government immunities, constitutional law, legislative updates, and elimination of bias.
The Council typically meets the second Tuesday of the month from noon to 1:00 p.m. The meeting location is typically the League of Minnesota Cities in St. Paul (right off of the Green Metro line). This position requires MSBA membership. Student membership at the MSBA is now free, as well as the district and Public Law Section membership. The term of the appointment will remain until graduation.
The MSBA Public Law Section Council develops and provides its members many benefits including Continuing Legal Education programs, a periodic newsletter Public Law News, community and public service activities, and opportunities for committee participation.
