The Minnesota Supreme Court is seeking three (3) Mitchell Hamline School of Law students to work as Legal Residents during Spring Semester 2024. This is an extraordinary opportunity made available to a small number of MH students each year.
During Spring 2024, Justice Anne McKeig, Justice Paul Thissen, and Justice Gordon Moore will each supervise one Resident. Residencies are full-time, and selected students will work in exchange for academic credit.
Required Criteria for Applicants:
- Applicant must be in their last three semesters of law school to work as a Resident
- Passion to serve the people of the State of Minnesota
- Strong research, writing, and analysis skills
- Must be able to keep information confidential
- Able to work either in-person or remote (as public health and MN Supreme Court policies allow). Currently, the position is a hybrid work situation
- Students of diverse backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply

- Applications will initially be reviewed by a committee of Mitchell Hamline faculty.
- Finalists’ applications will be forwarded to the Minnesota Supreme Court for interview selection by the Justices.
- Justices will conduct interviews (via Zoom) from 10:00am-12:00pm on November 30, 2023.
- Selected students will be notified by December 8, 2023.
- The Residency will begin in mid-January, timed with the start of the MH Spring semester.
