Faegre Drinker is highly invested in the growth and development of all of our attorneys. As a summer associate, our multifaceted approach will provide you with key resources and relationships that will be the foundation for your career. Our efforts include the following:
- Our summer program provides support and training to help law students build the skills and behaviors necessary to grow a sophisticated legal practice and develop rewarding client relationships.
- Summer associates receive a hands-on, meaningful experience. We encourage growth with challenging work, intensive professional development programs, personalized mentoring and coaching, and respectful yet candid feedback.
- We have a full-time legal writing coach and adviser who provides individual writing guidance to summer associates.
- Summer associates are able to participate in pro bono work and connect with peers and our attorneys throughout the summer.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are among our core values. We embrace three specific strategies to put these values into action: accountability, innovation and intentionality. If you join us, you’ll see that everyone here is critical in our efforts to be a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.
- Our attorney resource group, the Diversity Collective, includes all attorneys, consultants and senior professionals who identify as members of underrepresented groups in the legal profession (primarily racial/ethnic and LGBTQ+). The Diversity Collective provides our summer associates with mentoring relationships and support throughout the summer program, which will help you transition into associate life.
- We work closely with more than 60 legal affinity organizations that provide professional development opportunities, leadership experiences, networking and support.
- We have proudly signed on to Diversity Lab’s “OnRamp200” — an initiative aimed at bringing 200 women attorneys who have taken extended career hiatuses back into the legal profession by 2025.
