Shannon Quirk was a summa cum laude graduate in 2015 who earned a Law and Business Certificate. An attorney at Graco Inc., Quirk is also an assistant adjunct professor of mergers and acquisitions at Mitchell Hamline. Exposure to business in law school has been invaluable in her legal career, she said.
“I work with accountants and MBAs every day. My success as in-house counsel depends in large part on my ability to work with the business people and not sound like an ivory-tower lawyer but instead be someone who understands their business, their tolerance for risk, and their strategic vision. If you’re going to hit the ground running as a lawyer in business, you need to have some background in accounting/finance, business, and business law, and that’s what the Center for Law and Business gave me.”
