Mitchell Hamline School of Law in collaboration with University of Greenwich: School of Law and Criminology
Mitchell Hamline School of Law, working with the Center for Law and Business, recently opened registration for an amazing opportunity to study abroad in London during Summer 2024! It is offered by Mitchell Hamline in collaboration with the University of Greenwich: School of Law and Criminology, London, England. This program, with U.S., British, and other EU and international faculty offers a unique chance for students to connect with a global community of lawyers.
Students will have rigorous, hands-on practice working on the application of important current topics. In our global community, issues of business, environmental, criminal, and immigration affect all of us personally and in our practice as lawyers at all levels: small or large, private or government law.
Students may register for one course in each session.
Session I
- Course I—Doing Deals Across the World: Advising Global Entrepreneurs (3 credits)
Students attend class IN PERSON only.
M–Th, June 24–27 and M–Th, July 1–4, 2024
9 am–noon and 12:30–3:30 pm London time
Session II
- Course II—Movement of Workers and Comparative Asylum Law, Practice & Procedure: Can They Stay or Must They Go? (3 credits)

9 am–noon and 12:30–3:30 pm London time
- Course III—Comparative Criminal, Constitutional, and Statutory Law and Practice (2 credits)

3–6:30 pm London time
The London courses are comprised of a combination of lectures, class discussion, and extensive small group break-out sessions that require hands-on practical application of topics under discussion. You’ll have ample time to discuss and learn the law, see, and learn the law from many other perspectives. Courses I and II are in session from 9 am-3:30 pm with the lunch break from 12:30-1 pm London time, giving you plenty of time to travel, explore, and experience all that England has to offer. Course III is in session 3-6:30 pm London time.
Faculty
The London Summer School faculty bring real-life, international experience to the classroom. The professors teach at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, the University of Greenwich: School of Law and Criminology in London, and also include other EU and national faculty.
Tuition
Tuition must be paid to Mitchell Hamline School of Law by 9 am on Friday, June 7, 2024. Mitchell Hamline distributes summer loans 10 days before the program begins. If you are not a Mitchell Hamline student, check with your school about loan distribution. Class location
Classes will be held at the University of Greenwich: School of Law and Criminology, Old Royal Naval College, Park Row, London SE10 9LS, UK.
Course III: Comparative Criminal, Constitutional, and Statutory Law and Practice From the Crime to the Courtroom
Tu–F, July 9–12 and Tu–F, July 16–July 19, 2024, 9 am–12:30
Taught in person in London with outstanding U.S. and international faculty.
Student housing
Student housing cost subject to change.
All student housing rooms are single occupancy and priced at the same price point, $785 per session. Choices are 3 small rooms, 15 standard rooms, 4 standard+ rooms, 6 large rooms. First come, first served. Standard fittings include: en-suite toilet and shower, bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe. All single study/bedrooms include an en-suite shower/toilet facilities, bed, desk, chair and wardrobe and are located just across from the Greenwich Campus. There is a mini-fridge in the room and a launderette on site. There is a shared kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, storage cupboards, kettle and microwave.
Bed linen, towels, and toilet paper are provided. Students must bring their own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, and wash cloths.
Session I: Check in at 3 pm on Saturday, June 22. Check out by 10 am on Saturday, July 6.
Session II: Check in at 3 pm on Saturday, July 6. Check out by 10 am on Saturday, July 20.
IMPORTANT STUDENT HOUSING INFORMATION! Mitchell Hamline has tentatively reserved a block of rooms for students who elect to use student housing. Mitchell Hamline pays the full balance for rooms actually reserved. Therefore, students who wish to CANCEL their student housing must do so by Friday, April 5, 2024, or they WILL BE LIABLE for the FULL HOUSING COST, WHETHER OR NOT THEY ATTEND THE PROGRAM.

Admission to International Comparative Law London is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis.
Student applicants must complete the online registration form, print it, sign it, and mail it to Jennifer Miller, Mitchell Hamline School of Law with:
- A $250 non-refundable application fee (100% applicable to tuition)
- Please make checks payable to Mitchell Hamline School of Law
- A letter of good standing from your home law school (or have it mailed directly from your registrar to Jennifer Miller at Mitchell Hamline)
- Mitchell Hamline students can use CashNet to pay fees using the code: International Comparative Law London
