This fall, Mitchell Hamline School of Law is welcoming an incoming class of nearly 400 full- and part-time 1Ls across all of the school’s J.D. programs, putting the school’s total enrollment at more than 1,100 students.
The 2018 fall semester is now fully underway. Students in the school’s full-time, part-time day, and part-time evening programs started classes on Monday, Aug. 20.
Because of the number of flexible enrollment options offered at Mitchell Hamline, start times for other students were staggered throughout August:
- Students in the Hybrid J.D. program began classes Aug. 6. The newest cohort of students spent the week taking part in intensive courses on campus.
- Students in the traditional weekend program started classes on Aug. 11. Those in the blended weekend program got underway Aug. 18.
- Executive J.D. students started classes on Aug. 19. They’ll cap off a week of on-campus classes with the Leadership Workshop, Aug. 24-26. Students in the blended weekend program attend the workshop as well.
While enrollment figures aren’t finalized until early October, here’s what we know about this fall’s incoming class:
- Over 100 of the nearly 400 incoming 1Ls are students of color.
- Applications were up 13 percent over last year.
- Based on traditional LSAT measures, the quality of this year’s applications was up compared to last year. This fall’s entering class will likely have a higher average LSAT score.
- Over half of incoming 1Ls are from outside Minnesota.
