Information Technology Services has been informed about a new email phishing scam that makes it appear that someone is sharing a Google document with you. The subject line will read “Firstname Lastname” has invited you to view the following document,” with a link that appears to lead to the Google document but instead leads to a site that will attempt to lure you into entering your Gmail address and password for a criminal to harvest. You should always be wary of any email that solicits information from you, especially from someone you don’t know or from someone you haven’t previously made plans to share a document with. Notify IT if you receive any suspicious email and delete the email afterwards, and never click any links contained in the email. If you feel that you might have fallen victim to the scheme, you should immediately reset your Gmail password.
