Hon. Janet L. Barke Cain ’89 received the Joint President’s Award from the Minnesota District Judges Association (MDJA) and the Minnesota District Judges Foundation (MDJF) for her dedicated and unyielding service to the MDJA and MDJF since 2008, including her leadership as Co-Chair of the MDJF Judge Handbook Committee, MDJA Board of Directors from 2010-2024, and a member of the MDJA Articles and Bylaws Committee, MDJA Law Clerk Committee, and MDJF Program and Education Committee. MDJA and MDJF also recognize Judge Cain’s substantial service to the trial court bench as a member of several Supreme Court committees including the Children’s Justice Initiative, Juvenile Delinquency Rules Committee, Juvenile Protection Rules Committee, and Sentencing Forms Subcommittee and the First District Equal Justice Committee as well as her commitment to judicial education including teaching at the MDJF Fall Conference, Annual Conference of Judges, New Judges’ Orientation, the Family Law Institute, Divorce Camp, and various children and juvenile, family, criminal and veteran’s programs. This is only the second time that an individual has received a joint award from the Presidents of both the Association and the Foundation.
