Law Student Pro Bono Day of Service
This year during the Conference and Career Fair, Equal Justice Works is partnering with local non profit organizations for an immigration advice and referral clinic focused on alternative forms of relief for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders. The clinic will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and will allow participating students to provide direct services to low-income clients alongside DC area attorneys. Student volunteer slots are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interested students can learn more and sign up for this pro bono opportunity here.
Conference and Career Fair Diversity Scholarship
In an effort to increase diversity at this year’s Conference and Career Fair, Equal Justice Works is offering scholarships to those students who believe they will contribute positively to the diversity of the event. Students at Equal Justice Works member schools who live more than 50 miles outside of the Washington D.C metropolitan area are eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is intended to support those from historically underrepresented groups (including race, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, first generation law student, disability, etc.)
Scholarships will be $300-400 and are intended to be used for travel expenses associated with the event. Recipients will be chosen by the National Advisory Committee’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.
To apply, please send your name, law school, resume, and response to the following prompt to NAC@equaljusticeworks.org:
In 200 words or less, describe how you contribute to diversity initiatives on your campus and in your community and how you would bring those efforts to diversifying the 2018 Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair.
Submissions will be accepted until October 4, 2018.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by October 8, 2018.
