The MLBA is excited to announce the 20th Annual MLBA Conference.

In partnership with West Legal Education Center, we are offering this year’s conference via remote platform. Topics to be covered include discussion of the Bostock and N.H. cases and their implications for transgender individuals in the workplace and beyond. Be on the lookout for our call for speakers and conference registration information.
An exciting part of this year’s conference is our ability to access the programming on-demand even after the date of the conference! So, do not fear if you can’t attend for all or part of the day, as your conference registration will ensure your access to all of the programming!
MLBA Strategic Engagement Committee Request for Member Participants
The Strategic Engagement Committee (“SEC”) of the MLBA is looking to add no more than three Law Student Liaisons to work directly with the Board. Please submit the following before October 17, 2020 to be considered for this opportunity: (1) indicate in writing your interest in performing work along with the SEC Committee; (2) commit to going to regularly scheduled SEC meetings; (3) submit a resume and brief statement of interest (no more than 350 words) to the SEC Committee; (4) be voted in by a majority of the sitting, non-student liaison SEC Committee Members.

Description and Duties below:
Student Liaisons of the Strategic Engagement Committee Description (“SEC”):
- Definitions:
- “MLBA Student Liaison” or “Student Liaisons” shall be defined as a law student within any of the Minnesota law schools, who is an active at-large member of the MLBA, and who has been chosen to serve alongside the SEC Committee in advocating for the representation and professional growth of LGBTQIA+ law students.
- “MLBA Mentorship Program” shall be defined as a Mentorship Program developed within the 2020-2021 MLBA year fostering the development of mentorship relationships between MLBA active members and attorneys and LGBTQIA+ law students in Minnesota.
- MLBA Student Liaison Description:
Student Liaisons shall participate directly within the SEC Committee meetings to advance and promote LGBTQIA+ law student concerns at Minnesota law schools as they arise. Student Liaisons will work alongside the SEC Committee in areas including but not limited to: advocating for the LGBTQIA+ legal community; working towards greater equity and representation of LGBTQIA+ law students through strategic engagement with law schools and legal organizations in the Twin Cities; and internally promoting the MLBA Mentorship Program within Minnesota law schools.
- Duties:
- Report to the SEC Committee at all SEC regular and semi-regular meetings regarding what Out!Law student membership would like to see regarding MLBA involvement, or regarding law student concerns as they arise at the law schools, specific to LGBTQIA+ individuals.
- Work with MLBA Board Members (specifically Charlie O’Meara & Annaliisa Gifford, as fellow law students) to develop a fully functioning and effective online MLBA Mentorship Program.
- Assist with any work delegated to them by the SEC Committee as appropriate and as needed by the SEC Committee.
- Provide insight and brainstorm along with the Committee at regular SEC Committee meetings.
