THE PROGRAMS:
About TCDIP’s 1L Clerkship Program (APPLICATION DEADLINE is 1/15, applications are often reviewed on a rolling basis!): For over a decade, the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice 1L Rotation Clerkship has helped to launch the careers of law students of color in the Twin Cities. TCDIP strengthens the legal talent pipeline with strategic partnerships between TCDIP Members from law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the summer, clerks gain valuable insights by working alongside in-house and law firm attorneys to develop relationships and sharpen their legal skills. Clerks also learn about the Twin Cities legal community by participating in mentoring and professional development programs organized by TCDIP. Read more about TCDIP’s 1L Summer Clerkship Program here.
About HCBA’s 1L Clerkship Program (APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 12/11!): The HCBA 1L Diversity Clerkship Program first began in the fall of 2005 under the direction of the Minnesota State Bar Association. The program places first-year law students from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds with Minnesota legal employers for a full-time, paid summer associate experience. Ultimately, the program hopes to find its participants becoming future partners and leaders in Minnesota’s legal community. The RCBA Diversity Committee has partnered with the HCBA Diversity and Inclusion Committee to support these efforts. Read more about the HCBA’s 1L Summer Clerkship Program here.
