The Minnesota Court of Appeals will be hearing oral arguments at Mitchell Hamline on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in the Auditorium and on Zoom. The arguments are open to the public.
If you’re thinking about representing clients in court, considering a future judicial clerkship or working as a judge, or even if you haven’t decided what life after law school will look like for you, this is an excellent opportunity to observe a live case in action on campus or on Zoom. Oral arguments heard in these sessions are real cases that are part of the Minnesota Court of Appeals calendar. If you’re able to attend any or all of the oral arguments, we highly recommend staying after to ask questions of the judges and clerks. The judges and clerks will answer questions related to what you heard in the oral arguments as well as answer questions about working for the Minnesota Court of Appeals. This is a rare opportunity to gain insight into the workings of the Court.
There are currently three arguments scheduled (briefs can be found in 12twenty):
- 9:30 a.m. CT – A24-0825 – State v. Harvey
- 10:05 a.m. CT – A24-0685 – Clean Care, LLC v. Jacobson Environmental, PLLC
- 10:40 a.m. CT – A24-0516 – PPB Holdings, L.P. v. County of Carver
A Q&A session will follow the arguments for Mitchell Hamline students. A luncheon with the judges and clerks will immediately follow the Q&A session. You must RSVP for the luncheon.
