Professor James Coben will explore lessons lawyers can learn from contemporary social science research to improve decision-making and advocacy in negotiation and other forms of conflict resolution. Professor James Coben will provide an entertaining, multi-media presentation.
Prof. James Coben is a professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a senior fellow in the law school’s Dispute Resolution Institute, which he directed from 2000-2009. He teaches civil dispute resolution, advocacy, negotiation and mediation. He is a co-author of the Thomson Reuters trial practice series treatise MEDIATION: LAW, POLICY & PRACTICE (2017-2018), a co-editor of the four-volume RETHINKING NEGOTIATION TEACHING SERIEs (DRI Press 2009-2013), and editorial board member of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) DISPUTE RESOLUTION MAGAZINE, for which he writes a “Research Insights” featured column.
