“The success of an organization’s Health Care Compliance Program relies on not only support from the Board of Directors but also buy-in, support, and accountability of every employee. I have worked in an acute care hospital as a Registered Nurse for over 18 years and most recently in the role of the Clinical Information Specialist, working directly with our Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Hamline’s Health Care Compliance Program gave me the knowledge and necessary tools to implement, manage, and evaluate the regulatory compliance processes related to the EMR; this includes staying abreast of new rules and regulations as they pertain to compliance in both the acute care setting as well as my nursing practice. The Hamline Program also allowed us to use the information we learned in class and apply it to real life scenarios. This was an invaluable experience to draw on when facing real life scenarios. The Hamline Program effectively prepared me for my exam to become Certified in Healthcare Compliance. Obtaining my certification has allowed me to be proactive in my position, by providing me access to a multitude of resources to stay current on the ever changing rules and regulations.”
