Medical-Legal Partnership: Health Law Clinic
The first of its kind here in Minnesota, Mitchell Hamline’s Health Law Institute and United Family Medicine, a community-based clinic providing comprehensive, patient-centered primary care to low-income and medically underserved patients, launched a medical-legal partnership in the fall of 2014. One component of this partnership is a Health Law Clinic, which gives you a chance to help low-income patients/clients address legal issues that are impacting their health.
Health Law Externships
Through a Health Law Externship, you apply your classroom learning to the real world of health law in a practice and setting you choose. Our externships combine classroom discussion and exercises with a minimum of 150 hours of field work. You are supervised by a faculty member, taught by an adjunct professor experienced in health law, and supervised in the field by an attorney-mentor.
Health Law Moot Court Competition
Mitchell Hamline participates in three health law moot court competitions: the National Health Law Moot Court, the National Health Law Transactional Competition, and the Health Law Regulatory and Compliance Competition. Each year, our students place well among their peers from around the country.
Events and Extracurricular Activities

Health Law Society
Get involved in the community, explore the field of health law, and learn about the diverse opportunities in the evolving health law field, through the Health Law Society. The society promotes experiential learning and fellowship among students interested in health law through community service, networking, and peer-support.
