We know the Intellectual Property (IP) world
Whether you want to represent artists, brand owners, or inventors, careers in IP offer the challenge of working with cutting-edge creativity and innovative minds. If you are motivated by being on the ground floor of the next Apple, Google, or breakout star, a career in IP is right for you. There is no better place to start your career than at Mitchell Hamline. With an alumni and support network in places like Tesla, The Copyright Alliance, General Mills, Cargill, and 3M, access to opportunity abounds.
There is a common misconception that intellectual property (IP) attorneys have to be scientists—but that simply is not true. Attorneys who specialize in IP law come from all sorts of backgrounds. Those who draft, file, and prosecute patent applications usually have earned Bachelor of Science degrees and often have worked as engineers. But other careers in IP law do not require much, if any, scientific knowledge. Some IP attorneys have an education or experience in the arts, while others have an interest in business and want to help their business clients to create, protect, and commercialize their IP rights. Other IP attorneys are civil or criminal litigators who have decided to focus their practices on IP-related issues.
