Covid-19 Update for Excess and Emergency Student Loan checks
The campus is currently closed to students. Due to this closure, you currently have two options to receive funds. The preferred method is an eRefund through CASHNet®. The alternative is to have the check mailed to you. To set up the electronic depositing of your check through CASHNet® start by accessing your student account. For more information see Electronic Payments and Refunds. As we receive further information about building access we’ll update this information as well.
The Finance office will disburse FSA credit balances to students within 14 days of the date it was created or within 14 days of the first day of class. Students with credit balances can enroll in eRefunds through their student portal, or they can receive the refund by a paper check. Checks can be picked up during business hours Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm in the Finance Office, room 276, LEC Building. Subsequent paper checks and eRefunds are disbursed every Friday.
Alternative arrangements to pick up or receive checks can be made by contacting student accounts at email@example.com.
*Please note, students who have not enrolled in eRefunds that are in the Hybrid, EJD or Blended programs will have their refund checks mailed automatically. All other students have their checks mailed if they are not picked up in one week’s time.
2021 Summer Disbursements
Summer financial aid will be processed within 10 days of the start date of your first summer class. First loan/scholarships will be disbursed for summer on May 17 with excess funds available on May 21. For specific refund dates, please e-mail the Student Accounts team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2021-22 Semester Disbursement Dates
Fall 2021: Loan/Scholarships will be disbursed on August 23, 2021 with excess funds available on August 27, 2021.
Spring/J-Term 2022: Loan/Scholarships will be disbursed on January 24, 2022 with excess funds available on January 28, 2022.
Checks not picked up within one week after being issued will be mailed to the student’s address on record.
If you pick up the check and decide within 21 days of the disbursement to return some or all of the funds to your lender, you have three choices:
- Return the original check to the Finance Office with a written statement indicating the amount and which loan to repay.
- E-mail email@example.com to request that your check be voided and returned to your servicer.
- Repay loans directly to the servicer. Any payment you make within 120 days of disbursement will result in cancellation of fees and interest for those disbursed funds.
After 21 days your only option is to make a payment to your loan’s servicer.
