Alan Clemmons was sworn-in as Judge of the Equity Court (Master in Equity) by South Carolina Supreme Court Justice Kaye Hearn on February 28, 2022. Judge Clemmons was appointed to the full-time position by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, with the advice and consent of the General Assembly, for a term of six years. The Equity Court, a branch of the state’s Circuit Court, has jurisdiction over all civil, non-jury matters referred by the Circuit Court, particularly those matters in which equitable relief is sought (foreclosure, partition of property, etc.). Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Clemmons maintained a civil-oriented law practice for 32 years and served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for 18 years.
