John M. Schmid has joined Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A. as an Associate in the Commercial Lending practice. John M. Schmid focuses his practice on representing banks and other lenders in financing transactions secured by commercial real estate, with an emphasis on low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) and affordable multifamily housing projects, construction and bridge loans, permanent loans, forward loan commitments, and conversions. In all aspects of his practice, John reviews and advises clients regarding title and survey matters. He also has experience representing lenders that originate and sell multifamily mortgage loans to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. John earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
