Amanda Pittman ’13 is part of the team that oversees the compliance activities of State Public Programs at Medica. Her position as a Senior Compliance Analyst includes fortifying the departments regulatory and tracking procedures, and enhancing the auditing and monitoring program for compliance with regulations and state contracts. When a question or problem arises, it is her job to analyze the contract to be certain that the business unit’s actions going forward are in compliance. In the first few months of working at Medica she has engaged with multiple business units and external business associates, developing policies and procedures, revising contracts, conducting audits and risk assessments, as well as creating and presenting Privacy training for the entire business unit.
“Hamline’s Health Law Institute helped develop many of the skills that I use on a daily basis at Medica. Core health law classes provided me a background on relevant laws in which Medica interacts with on a daily basis. The Health Care Compliance Program developed the seven fundamental elements of an effective compliance program, which I have hanging at my desk, as my department looks to each one on a daily basis to be sure that all our bases are covered. Real life skills were practiced in the classroom, giving me a stable platform to perform in my role.”
