Public Health Law Center senior attorney Mary Marrow gave a presentation focused on how to navigate laws and policies to improve access to healthy food in Minnesota communities. The discussion focused on current food network efforts across the state, and opportunities to connect with other local communities working to improve food access through policy, systems, and environmental change efforts. The meeting was sponsored by Live Healthy, U of M Extension, AgCentric, Health4Life, Central Lakes College, SHIP, and the Initiative Foundation, and was held in Staples, Minn.

12/1/16 National Standards for the Certification of Patient Decision Aids
Professor Thaddeus Pope served as one of 21 experts convened by The National Quality Forum (NQF) to evaluate the current state of patient decision aids. In December, the NQF issued a set of national standards for decision aids, which are key resources for improving shared decision making between providers and patients.

12/16/16 Advisory group meeting of the True Food research study
Public Health Law Center senior attorney Susan Weisman took part in a day-long advisory group meeting of the True Food research study in Minneapolis, Minn. The study is a one-year collaborative project of the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Minnesota Center for Prevention and the Minneapolis Public Schools that will assess how recent policy changes made to the district’s school food environment is affecting student performance, behavior, and health.
