Jason Decker is an enrolled member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. He
received an A.A.S. in Law Enforcement at the Leech Lake Tribal College in 2010. While working on his law enforcement degree, Jason took a Federal Indian Law survey course. It was during that course that he realized a law degree could open doors for him to better serve Indian communities and he decided that he wanted to attend law school. With this goal in mind, Jason went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in history from Bemidji State University in 2014. Jason worked as a dispatcher for the Leech Lake Tribal Police while working on his bachelor’s degree.
While at Mitchell Hamline, Jason served as vice president, then president, of the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA), participated in the National NALSA Moot Court Competition, and was managing editor of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review. He is currently an Associate at Hogen Adams, PLLC, a boutique Indian law firm in St. Paul. At Hogen Adams, he assists with complex federal court litigation and tribal court matters. He enjoys working with tribes to strengthen their self-governance.
