The Disability Services team will engage in an interactive process to document a student’s accommodation needs and to establish any reasonable accommodations at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
Disability Services will accept the following forms of documentation as sufficient to explore and establish reasonable accommodation:
- a prior Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- documentation of prior services or accommodation under a section 504 plan
- records from a private school, local educational agency (i.e. school district), or state educational agency (i.e. Department of Education)
- a plan or record from a previous institution of higher education provided under the
Americans with Disabilities Act or its amendments - a military record of disability
- a record, evaluation, or additional information from a qualified health professional
- Disability Services will also accept a student’s self-report as a form of documentation,
though may request additional third-party documentation to determine the disability-related
need for accommodation
MPRE and Bar Exam Documentation Guidelines
It is important to note that the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE), and the state bar examination, have separate documentation guidelines and processes for testing accommodations. We encourage students to review the Medical Documentation Guidelines for MPRE Test Accommodations to prepare for the MPRE, and to check each state’s guidelines for requesting testing accommodations on the bar exam.
