Does Mitchell Hamline School of Law provide services for students with disabilities?
Yes, support services, including accommodations are provided for students with documented disabilities to ensure equal access in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act as amdended. -
Is there a fee for Disability Services?
No, Mitchell Hamline does not charge a fee for Disability Services. Students are responsible for aids or assistance of a personal nature such as a wheelchair, hearing aids, computers to be used at home, or personal aids. -
Is there a separate admissions process for students with disabilities?
No, the admission process and criteria are the same for all students applying to Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Disability status is not a consideration in admissions decisions, you must be otherwise qualified for admission. -
I am planning a campus visit; can I meet with someone from Disability Services during my visit?
Yes, depending on availability. Arrangements can be made through the Admissions office. However please note that Disability Services cannot make any determinations of accommodations or review documentation during campus visits. Documentation is reviewed only after students are accepted and deposited. -
Should I submit my disability documentation with my admissions application?
No, any disability documentation should submitted directly to Disability Services only after you have been accepted and made your admissions deposit. -

Congratulations on being accepted. Accommodation requests and documentation should be submitted only after have made your admissions deposit and decided you will be attending MHSL. -
Is there a deadline for requesting accommodations?
No, the process for requesting accommodations is rolling, and students can request accommodations at any point during their time at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. -
How do I request accommodations?
Students interested in seeking accommodations must go through the accommodation request process. This starts by visiting the Disability Services page and completing the online accommodation request form and submitting documentation. -
What documentation will I need?
Documentation must be current, comprehensive, and provide a connection between the disability and the accommodation being requested. More information about documentation guidelines can be found on our Disability Services webpage. -
Who will have access to my disability related information?
All information related to a student’s disability will be maintained by the Disability Services department. The Disability Services department consists of the Director of Disability Services, the Assistant Director of Disability Services, and the Accessibility Resource Specialist. Information related to specific accommodations may be shared with specified staff members to facilitate approved accommodations. Information about a student’s disability identity will not be shared with a student’s professor -
Will my accommodations be indicated on my Mitchell Hamline transcripts?
No, accommodations are not indicated on a students Mitchell Hamline transcripts. -
If I had accommodations for the LSAT or at a previous college or university will they carry over?
While some previous accommodations you had in place may be applicable in the law school setting, students must go through the Accommodation process in order to determine reasonable accommodations while attending Mitchell Hamline.
