Application
The program is open to degree-candidate law students, in good standing, who have successfully completed their first year of study, lawyers seeking continuing legal education credits, graduate students, divinity students, and members of the clergy and other professionals.
To apply, complete and submit the electronic application, along with the applicable supporting documents, as is determined by your student status. The appropriate links in the application will guide you through the process. MHSL students are not required to submit any supporting documents.
If you attend a school other than Mitchell Hamline, you must provide confirmation of good standing from your home institution. This may be uploaded with your application or sent via email to: Kitty Atkins, Associate Director, DRI ([email protected]).
Once your application and confirmation of good standing is received, you will receive via email your acceptance to the program, if a seat is still available.
Enrollment is limited to enhance the interactive nature of each course. Qualified students are accepted on a first-applied, first-enrolled basis.
Application Deadline: November 1, 2025.

MHSL students should contact the financial aid office to determine their eligibility for financial aid and must apply and be approved for the aid before the November 1 deadline.
Non-MHSL visiting students will need to contact the financial aid office at their home institution to seek financial aid for the program. If a visiting student seeks financial aid through their home institution, the financial aid office will submit to MHSL a consortium agreement on their behalf. If you are a visiting student and a consortium agreement is submitted by the November 1 deadline, beyond the tuition deposit of $250, you are not required to submit the tuition/fees balance until your aid funds become available.
Should a student withdraw from the program before November 1, 2025, tuition and fees will be refunded, with the exception of the $250 non-refundable deposit. If you withdraw after November 1, 2025, you are liable for full tuition and fees, no matter the reason for the withdrawal.
