“In May 2016, I accepted a position in Compliance Corrections with UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement. In my role as a Compliance Analyst, I work with various business partners and
the leadership teams to remediate compliance issues, which range from Medicare sales, to Medicare provider networks, to member enrollment in the health plan. Remediation is usually in the form of a corrective action plan or a more general method of issue tracking within the business to ensure the error does not reoccur. The timeline of remediation varies by issue and takes into account many factors such as the necessity of additional funding or overhaul of policies and procedures.
“HLI’s health law and compliance programs prepared me for success in this position by providing a general overview of the relevant laws and offering strategies and techniques to common health law and compliance scenarios. The faculty’s range of background and experience, along with practical advice, resulted in an excellent framework on which I rely in offering advice and remediation suggestions. As we were taught in the program, the knowledge required for my position falls back on the seven core elements of a successful compliance program. Because of the well-planned curriculum in both the compliance institute and health law programs, I am able to approach issues methodically, promptly, and with confidence–traits which were ingrained in me from day one of my first HLI course.”
