Mitchell Hamline students receiving federal aid: View your J-Term federal financial aid offer in the Mitchell Hamline Financial Aid Portal
Visiting Mitchell Hamline from another law school? Provide your home Financial Aid Office with our contact information. When contacted, we will confirm your registration and provide total budget costs to assist your home school’s financial aid processing.
Non-JD students: Use our private loan comparison tool, FastChoice to find your loan and contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance.
J-Term ’25 On-Campus Classes
- J-Term registration and a valid 2024-25 FAFSA will trigger a financial aid offer.
- Financial aid offer will equal J-term tuition cost only
- Applicable scholarships will apply
- J-term aid is processed and disbursed with spring term aid
- When notified, accept offered financial aid through the Mitchell Hamline Financial Aid Portal.
J-Term ’25 Mitchell Hamline study away program
- Your program deposit and a 2024-25 FAFSA will trigger a financial aid offer.
- Financial aid offer will equal the total program cost of attendance including the application fee, tuition, course and housing fees, airfare and personal expenses.
- Scholarships are not applicable to study abroad costs.
- When notified, accept offered financial aid through the Mitchell Hamline Financial Aid Portal.
J-Term ’25 study away program at another school
- 2024-25 FAFSA on-file
- Review Academic Rule 1.06, Section F, Credits Earned at Other Law Schools in the Law School Catalog
- Submit a Registrar’s Transfer of Credit Request Form for approval.
- Provide the Financial Aid Office with your planned program details (email with attachment is ok!)
- Mitchell Hamline will contact the host school to confirm your registration and verify the established budget for your program.
- Scholarships are not applicable to study abroad costs.
- When notified, accept offered financial aid through the Mitchell Hamline Financial Aid Portal.
- Funds will be disbursed to you no sooner than 10 days before the start of class. You are responsible for paying your host school directly.
J-Term ’25 Non-JD program
- Use our private loan comparison tool, FastChoice to locate a private loan
- Total loan limit is the total budget for non-JD/non-credit seeking students.
- The Financial Aid office will confirm your registration and program with your lender.
- Loans are disbursed to the school to be applied to your tuition and fees costs, and the remainder of the loan will be issued to you from the Student Finance Office.
- Allow two weeks for loan processing and disbursement
