“I am writing to share my good news – I have been hired into a full time position in health law by Legal Assistance of Western New York (LawNY), located in Rochester, NY. My job title is Community Health Advocate. My job responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and advocacy to clients on access to health care.
- Resolving health insurance coverage and access to care issues, such as treatment denials and billing disputes.
- Conducting research on health insurance policy, including benefits under the Affordable Care Act, public and commercial health insurance products and other health consumer rights and responsibilities.
When I was at Hamline my goal was to work in the health law field, and thanks to all of you I have reached that goal. My Certificate in General Health Law prepared me in so many ways to build a health law career! The knowledge and skills you imparted have enabled me to make a real contribution to the lives of my clients and colleagues.
The educational challenges you provided have empowered me to continue learning and developing. I strive to read broadly in health topics and stay abreast of what is happening in both the public and private arenas.
I have also joined the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys GRAWA), and I am currently Co-chair of the GRAWA Women’s Health Committee. In addition, I have joined the Health Law and Reproductive Rights Committee of Women’s Bar Assoc. of the State New York.
Thank you for being wonderful teachers, wise counselors, and inspiring role models!”
