Nature of Case: A juvenile, who committed a forcible sexual offense and was adjudicated as a delinquent, appealed the requirement that he register as a sex offender as a violation of the 8th Amendment.
Holding: Iowa Supreme Court held that, while statutory scheme was sufficiently burdensome as to constitute punishment, it was not cruel and unusual in light of, inter alia, Iowa statutory scheme that allowed for the judge to terminate registration on conclusion of juvenile disposition.
