Delgado v. Swearingen, No. 16-CV–501 (N.D. Fla. 2018)
Nature of Case: Plaintiffs filed civil rights lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Florida state law requiring that those required to register inform FDLE of their internet identifiers. Plaintiffs brought a number of challenges, under First and Fourteenth Amendments.
Holding: District Court for Northern District of Florida held that statute was constitutional, though enjoined FDLE from making publicly accessible the identity of any registrant associated with an internet identifier.
